Brief Overview

Geoffrey Allen is a young millionaire unable to cure his Cystic Fibrosis by any legal means, so he hires a company to produce a serum that will genetically modify his DNA to remove the disease from his cells, breaking the Beijing Anti viral-engineering Treaty of 2013. Seemingly cured Geoffrey is on top form until those around him begin to develop extraordinary diseases and deformities, as their DNA is rewritten, and the virus spreads...

Brief Review

Whilst initially focusing more on genetics than the classical computers and machinery associated with cyberpunk, this soon develops the common themes of defining identity, as the virus begins to merge facial and racial traits initially, and then again as hackers try to harness the virus and take on the challenge of coding and manipulating DNA as if it were software. The results offer an interesting take on the virus from various points of view, curse or blessing, and offers another look at the possibilities and problems of being able to modify yourself directly.
